Jason
LaChapelle

I am a (mostly) self-taught developer. I started writing code at the ripe 'ol age of 11. I really wanted to learn how to make those ascii art pictures show up in an AOL chatroom, so I set out to figure it out. I soon learned I had to write code to make it happen, so I did, and I fell in love. I'm still in love with code today (don't tell my wife!).

Jason’s Story

I am a (mostly) self-taught developer. I started writing code at the ripe 'ol age of 11. I really wanted to learn how to make those ascii art pictures show up in an AOL chatroom, so I set out to figure it out. I soon learned I had to write code to make it happen, so I did, and I fell in love. I'm still in love with code today (don't tell my wife!).

I've been doing this professional for about 13 years now, and have spent the past 6 years heavily focused on the front end engineering side of development. I've also been working a lot with node.js and AngularJS over the past few years. I love what I do. It's one of the most challenging, yet rewarding things to me. While I'm no designer (me + color = fail), I do have a keen sense for what makes a web application usable to our end users.

Outside of work, I'm a father, a gamer, and a developer. I try to split time between my children, playing games, and writing games. I'm situated on the East Coast and am available most nights and various times on weekends.

I am also no good at writing about myself (I sure can talk about myself, though!) =)
